A driver in Fenghua, Zhejiang province, and her husband were killed as she reversed their SUV in the parking lot at their residential building, chinanews.com reported.
The woman, who got her driving license a month ago, was backing the Lexus vehicle in a 3-meter-wide parking space with walls on three sides in an underground garage on Tuesday evening.
Police said they cannot reach a definite conclusion yet on how the couple died, as there is no surveillance tape. The case is still being investigated.
Witnesses said the husband was standing at the rear of the vehicle to direct his wife when they heard the noise of the engine as the vehicle reversed quickly. The man was pressed between it and the wall.
The woman looked out while the vehicle was still reversing and her head was trapped between the wall and car door.
The couple, aged 41 and 42, have two daughters, aged 6 and 16, according to neighbors. The younger girl was in the car when the accident happened.
