Beijing United Family Rehabilitation Hospital, China's first Sino-American joint invested rehabilitation center, was opened on Wednesday.
It is also the first specialized hospital for United Family Healthcare, China's largest foreign-invested healthcare provider.
United States Ambassador Gary Locke, leaders of United Family Healthcare, hospital presidents and leading doctors attended the opening ceremony.
With an investment of $36 million, and covering an area of 16,000 square meters, the hospital will have 100 patient beds.
Besides regular rehabilitation equipment, the hospital also has comprehensive hydrotherapy facilities and atmospheric oxygen chambers.
A survey revealed that China has about 83 million disabled people, which accounts for 6.34 percent of the population.
