Work safety authorities in Shanghai summoned a meeting on Tuesday to emphasize safety checks on dangerous chemicals after explosions occurred at two chemical plants in the city on June 23 and 24, according to the Shanghai Administration of Work Safety.
The work safety administration pledged to investigate the two accidents and punish those who are responsible. Corporate representatives from the two companies will receive admonition from the administration.
Six people were injured in an explosion at Shanghai Shengying Chemical Co, Ltd in the city’s Jinshan district on June 24. One day earlier, a chemical leak caused an explosion and fire at the Shanghai Huayi Acrylic Acid Co in Pudong district.
