KUNMING - A landslide buried nine people Friday morning near a village in Southwest China's Yunnan province, local authorities said.
The landslide happened around 5 am following days of heavy rain in Yanjin county in the city of Zhaotong, a spokesman for the county's Communist Party of China (CPC) committee said.
Four people were pulled out of the landslide and taken to a local hospital. Their current condition is unknown, the spokesman said.
Rescue efforts for those who remain buried are under way.
