A Russian man who was found lying in a pond with his pet dog in Shanghai on Friday died at a hospital on Tuesday morning, eastday.com reported.
The 26-year-old Russian, who just graduated from Shanghai University, was found lying in a pond in downtown Shanghai with his pet dog at around 8 pm on Friday.
After he and his dog were taken out of the pond by firefighters, the emergency workers found his dog was dead and he had no vital signs.
The man regained a faint heartbeat at around 11 pm on Friday, but was still in a critical condition.
Local police asked the man's parents to authorize his roommate to sign for emergency treatment as they helped them with the visa to come to China during the nonworking time of the embassies of both China and Russia.
Local residents said the man died from electric shock, but this has not been confirmed. The case is still under investigation.
