GUANGZHOU -- A local legislator in South China's Guangdong province has been detained for allegedly molesting two teenage girls, local authorities confirmed on Friday.
A police investigation showed that Huang Baolin, director of a forest farm in Yamen town in Jiangmen city, and a deputy to the people's congress of both the city and the town, had lured two girls aged 15 and 13 to hotels in the cities of Taishan and Zhuhai on four occasions.
Huang, 50, molested the girls and attempted to rape them at the hotels, the publicity office of the Jiangmen city government said.
Huang had been under police investigation since July 5.
He was arrested on July 18 and has been removed from his posts, the office said.
