Yunnan province has vowed to further tap the potential of its tourism and cultural industry while attracting more investment for local tourism construction.
Ten cooperative projects, worth 11.6 billion yuan ($1.9 billion), were signed during an event in Beijing on Thursday promoting the province's tourism and cultural industry.
The province has come up with several policies to promote the local cultural industry and encourage enterprises from around the country to invest in the tourism facilities in the province, including high-end hotels, said Duan Yueqing, head of local tourism development committee.
The province is devoted to developing its tourism and cultural industry as its pillar and mainstay industry.
Boasting gorgeous natural scenery and various ethnic cultures, the province has received some 4.6 million visits from abroad and 200 million domestic visits in 2012, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The event was jointly hosted by the Yunnan provincial government, local merchants group and local tourism development committee.
