Almost 100 chengguan, urban management officers, in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong, showed off their new uniforms complete with stab-proof vest and helmets on Tuesday, China News Service reported. One officer said it's necessary to wear the outfit so they can secure their personal safety in possible confrontations with illegal street vendors.

An unmarried mother and her nine-month-old daughter have been living in a KFC store in Beijing for two months, Beijing Youth Daily reported. The woman makes a living by selling toys on the street before returning to her makeshift home in the fast-food. The woman said, "We try our best to avoid bothering other guests.”
