The Nobel Laureates Beijing Forum 2013 is scheduled for Sept 10-12, organizers announced on Wednesday. Four Nobel laureates and four renowned scientists have been invited to speak on new materials and new energy, the theme of this year's forum.
"Distinguished from previous Nobel Laureates Beijing Forums, the theme of this year - new materials and new energy — is more closely related to the development of Beijing," said Xiang Ping, an official in the Beijing foreign affairs office. "New materials and renewable energy help Beijing meet sustainable development challenges. The forum also encompasses more interactive sessions."
The annual Nobel Laureates Beijing Forum was initiated in 2005. It is organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Development Research Center of the State Council and the Beijing government. It aims at promoting the study of science in the whole of society.
Thousands of participants have participated in the forums, including well-known experts and noted scholars from both home and abroad.
