A man in Laibin, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, was killed trying to stop his new car from sliding on a downhill slope with his body, chinanews.com reported on Friday.
The resident of Xiangzhou county, surnamed Lei, went for a drive in his newly bought car on Wednesday morning. Several minutes after he parked the car on a slope and got out of it, he found it sliding down along the pathway.
He rushed to the sedan and tried to stop it from sliding with his body, which ended up with him falling into the ditch next to the slope together with the car, police said.
Lei died while being rushed to the hospital.
The police are working on a technical evaluation of the car, and the case is under further investigation.
