Beijing is boosting road capacity and transportation links as the capital prepares for the upcoming National Day holiday.
With passenger and traffic flow predicted to rise during the vacation, the capital will provide more public transportation based on monitoring passenger flow, according to the Beijing Commission of Transport.
The city's transportation authority also vows to increase safety checks to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
"It's necessary for the capital well to prepare itself before welcoming visitors from all over the country during the holiday," said Cheng Hong, deputy mayor of the capital.
"Proper handling of emergencies is also an important aspect of planning," said Cheng.
The nation's major roads will be toll-free during the holiday and this is expected to result in more traffic in the capital.
In addition, tourism attractions in the capital are also ready to accommodate holiday visitors.
The Badaling Great Wall site, for example, is enlarging parking capacity.
Information regarding weather, transportation, rail and flight services will be updated regularly.
