A food safety blacklist system was launched in Liaoning province on Tuesday, according to the local government.
If a company receives complaints by the public twice a year, verified by local authorities, or is found guilty of violating food safety regulations, it will be blacklisted. The blacklist will be publicized and companies face a block on raising loans for one year.
Local authorities will also circulate the blacklist to, among others, local development and reform commissions, financial institutions, import and export management departments, and tourism management departments will be on their credit record.
Companies on the list will be limited in aspects of food imports and exports, involving major events as well as receiving support policies.
