Saturday will see the ignition switching on for 200 electric taxis in Beijing's Tongzhou district.
Operating times are from 6:30 am to 11 pm daily. The starting price will be 10 yuan ($1.7) for the first 3 km with 2 yuan charged for each additional km, Beijing Morning Post reported.
Tongzhou district government set up 100 parking lots for the taxis.
At least 150 EV taxis will be on the road in the district during morning and evening rush hour, according to the report.
The taxis are not allowed to work in other districts.
