A tour guide in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, gave a lecture on good manners on Tuesday to Chinese tourists who are about to visit Thailand.

The group, who will start a weeklong trip to Thailand on Thursday, were the first Chinese to attend a training class on good manners for tourists overseas, according to Wuhan Evening News.

In the class that lasted more than one hour, Li Yan, a senior guide with the Hubei Overseas Travel Agency, told group members how to eat, dress and speak properly.

Li, who has led tour groups to Thailand for many years, had lots of stories to tell about how Chinese tourists behave improperly overseas.

Some call the names of their friends loudly in the corridors of hotels in order to locate them, much to the annoyance of others, she said.

Others hang around in their nightgowns and bathrobes in the corridors and lobbies of hotels or put a lot of food on their breakfast plates.

"But most of the food is wasted," she told her audience on Tuesday.
