A man in Qimen county, Anhui province, was arrested after a bomb hoax call to police.
The man, surnamed Jiang, 26, called police to say that he planted bombs in banks, anhuinews.com reported on Tuesday.
Jiang was in debt to his uncle to the tune of 100,000 yuan ($16,380) and wanted the banks to close in order that he could delay honoring the debt.
Jiang called police on Aug 28 saying that he put bombs in several banks in the county.
He demanded that the banks give him 1 million yuan, otherwise he would detonate the bombs.
Police traced the call and apprehended Jiang.
