HONG KONG - Hong Kong' city government on Tuesday welcomed a White Paper on "The Practice of the 'One Country, Two Systems' Policy in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" published by the Central Government on June 10.
"Since the reunification with the motherland almost 17 years ago, Hong Kong has benefited from the unique advantages of 'One Country, Two Systems' and attained remarkable achievements in economic and social development, and also on livelihood issues," a spokesman for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said.
"The White Paper has systematically set out the practice of the 'One Country, Two Systems' Policy in the HKSAR as well as the Central Government's review, evaluation and vision on the development of Hong Kong," the spokesman said.
"The White Paper is an important document on which every Hong Kong citizen should gain a comprehensive understanding. The city government will facilitate public access to the White Paper through different channels and invite the Central Government officials concerned to conduct briefing sessions with HKSAR government officials and members of the community respectively," he added.
The HKSAR government encourages the public to read the White Paper in detail for a deeper and comprehensive understanding of the practice of "One Country, Two Systems" in the HKSAR, according to the spokesman.
