Editor's note: Gays are men who are sexually attracted to people of the same gender. In China, most of them choose to keep their sexual preference a secret.
Yang Feng, a worker from a center for disease control in Yuncheng city, North China's Shanxi province, suggested gays take safety precautions when having sex, as sexual transmission is the main cause of HIV transmission among them. He also hopes that people can better understand homosexuality.
The following photographs record the everyday life of some gays in Yuncheng.
