BEIJING - 11.9 million trips were taken by rail in China on Friday, the first day of the country's three-day public holiday, a daily record.
According to the China Railway Corporation, Friday's trips rose by 11.6 percent from a year ago.
The corporation estimated 8.5 million trips and arranged 327 extra trains on Saturday.
Railways should guarantee high-quality services and provide safe and pleasant trips for tourists, said the corporation.
