There is no place better to see fruits of human ingenuity and labor than museums packed with historic relics. Apart from the four oft-cited museums: Louvre Museum in Paris, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, and the British Museum in London, let's take a look at other famous museums around the world on International Museum Day.

Established in 1925, the Palace Museum was constructed in the spirit of the imperial palaces in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The museum boasts the largest and most well-preserved wooden palace complex in the world.

Covering an area of 780,000 square meters, it houses more than 1.8 million precious collections, including Along the River During the Qingming Festival, which is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of ancient Chinese paintings.
