It began at around 10:40 pm when workers arrived with a crane, a truck and a new portrait. It took them about 40 minutes to finish the job. And there was a new portrait of Mao Zedong on the Tian'anmen Rostrum on Sept 27, 2016, before the National Day celebrations.
The portrait of Mao is changed at least once a year. October 1 this year marks the 67th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
