Artist reveals his life's secrets
The Meilidao International Art Institution is presenting Murmurs - the Solo Exhibition of Tan Ping. The exhibition features Tan's sketches and acrylic paintings created in recent years. As the deputy director and professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts, and an abstract artist, Tan paints in his spare time and presents his life experiences. "I enjoy drawing every stroke. Facing the white canvas the color blocks and lines collide with my heart, arising my desire to tell," Tan says.

Yik-Ccn debuts new sound
Seven Mongolian musicians (pictured below) deeply inspired by their nomadic heritage got together in 2008 to form a band titled Yik-Ccn, which means wisdom and profundity. They released a debut self-titled album recently, featuring traditional Mongolian folk songs and original compositions. The band, led by Bao Yin, percussionist, are apt in khoomei (throat singing) and matouqin (horse-head stringed instrument), which allow them to present Mongolian culture and history with songs such as Ode to Genghis Khan and The Drinking Song.

NCPA presents Verdi birthday present
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Italian opera composer Giuseppe Verdi. National Center of the Performing Arts will present its own production of Nabucco, the four-act opera composed in 1841. The NCPA production is directed by Gilbert Deflo and conducted by Eugene Kohn. On May 22 and 24, you can expect the great tenor Domingo to sing the title role.
