All the Way from Kassel is a grand public art exhibition which drew inspiration from dOCUMENTA, the world-class art event held every fives years in Kassel, Germany. It displays more than 33 sculptures, installations, videos and multi-media works, scattering in the Bihu Ecological Park in Zhangzhou, Fujian province. Participating artists include Zhan Wang, Chen Wenling, Miao Xiaochun, Wu Daxin and UNMASK.
Many works were on show in a Chinese public art project during the latest edition of dOCUMENTA in 2012, and some were newly created this year. The exhibition attempts to arouse the public's interests in public art and how it can make urban life more enriching.
"The discussions about public art should be related to the prospect of a specific city. The art work, as an individual existence, should interact with, and be blended with the dynamic interests of people it faces everyday," said Fan Di'an, director of the National Art Museum of China who co-curated the exhibition.
The exhibition will run till Nov 30.
