A cultural event revitalizing ancient Eurasian trade routes will be held next year in Dunhuang in Northwest China's Gansu province.

A two-day Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo is expected to be held in late August or early September, its organizers recently told a media conference in Beijing.

The expo, jointly launched by several ministries, will include summits, youth exchange programs and forums to promote dialogue among countries along the ancient Silk Road, with France being the event's guest country. The expo will likely be held annually at a permanent venue in Dunhuang, a conference facility over an area of 125,000 square meters.

Dunhuang, best known for its Mogao Caves, was a significant cultural stop on the Silk Road.
