Temple fair with 700 years history staged in Henan

Every year from the 27th to the 29th in the first month of Chinese lunar calendar (this year it Saturday through today), the traditional God of Fire Temple Fair is held in Huaxian county, Henan province, fully showcasing folk customs and local culture. The temple fair with a history of more than 700 years is billed as "the last temple fair in the first month of the lunar year" in North China.
Entertainment includes people walking on stilts, the lion dance, yangko dance and other forms of folk dance that are performed during the temple fair. Folk handicrafts, such as the making ofclay monkeys are on display.
Huge numbers of people gather for the temple fair, which makes it a real carnival with traditional Chinese elements.
