In many people's eyes, 23 year-old Chang Yangyang is unusual compared to his peers. He always stays at home, paints flowers, cuts paper and carries a small pair of scissors in his pocket wherever he goes.

His mother complains about his paper-cutting career and wants him to get married as soon as possible and find a "normal" job with a stable salary.

"I just want to do something I like," Chang answers his mother's complaint.

Chang, in fact, has become a famous folk artist in his county in Henan province. His works feature a variety of themes, including folk stories, social development and traditional festivals.

"When I was young, I found paper cutting interesting. And it was only when I got some awards and knew more paper-cut artists that I came to realize the artistic value of paper-cutting. I want to carry forward this form of art with my scissors," Chang said.

Chang tries to help more young people learn about paper-cutting by giving free classes at many local elementary schools.

Recently, he created a great paper-cut work featuring a hundred roosters to celebrate the upcoming the Year of Rooster.
