Sichuan opera

Sichuan opera is a traditional folk drama art popular in Southwest China, including in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan. As time changes, however, how people appreciate the opera has also changed.

To modern eyes, artistic skills including changing faces and spitting fire have become representative symbols of Sichuan opera. People walk into the theater to feel the visual impact from the techniques, while ignoring the inherent spirit of the opera as a traditional drama with distinguished vocal features and high literary value.
