An exhibition featuring works from a hundred calligraphers was unveiled at the National Museum of China on Monday.

The artists are veteran calligraphers, chosen by the Chinese Calligraphers Association based on advice from scholars specializing in the history of China and the Communist Party of China.

Chinese history, spanning thousands of years, has been featured in these showpieces that display a variety of styles.

"These works are the outstanding representatives of traditional Chinese culture. The artists are the glory of our nation," Li Yi, secretary of the Party Committee of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, said at the exhibition's opening ceremony.

The pieces will be taken to the museum's permanent collection after the exhibition, which runs through Oct 30.
