The 7th First International Film Festival will kick off in Xining, Qinghai province, on July 21 and last 10 days.
The festival, aimed at finding young talents in the industry, consists of screenings, a talent development workshop, forums, a film market and an awards ceremony.
Two competition sections will choose winners from about 60 films recommended by universities across the country. A jury made up of senior filmmakers such as writer Lu Wei and director Frankie Chan will present 17 awards.
Qin Hailu, an award-winning film and theater actress, is the festival's ambassador.
