If you are visiting Fujian province, why not stop over for a dazzling concert at Dacuo village. Apart from enjoying a unique brand of rock music, you will be feted to a magnificent play of colorful lights.

As darkness falls, a marvelous "lightning" concert is staged in the village of Dacuo, Heshang town, Fujian province. The show is put up by a six-man band called Thunderbolt Craziness in an open yard a few times a month for their fellow villagers. The band specializes in producing electric arcs, from Tesla coils that are charged with 1 million volts of electricity, and are in sync with the music they play.

Wang Zengxiang, 31, the band's founder and leader, is a major fan of the Tesla coil. He first encountered Tesla coils in 2001 as a student in the school of mechanical and electrical engineering at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. Spending nearly all his spare time experimenting with the coil, Wang succeeded in making a 1.2-meter lightning bolt above his house in June 2007. In March 2012, he quit a comfortable job with an electrical company and devoted himself to his lightning band.
