The average disposable income of urban residents in China was about 3.13 times the average net income of rural residents in 2011, said a blue paper released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on Tuesday.
According to The Urban Blue Book: China City Development Report No 5, the income gap is about 26 percent higher than it was in 1997 and 68 percent higher than in 1985, far exceeding figures of the same kind in many foreign countries.
