Thank you athletes for the Games

Comment on "Olympics and the world order" (China Daily, Aug 14)

I believe that people should look at the performances of all the participants at the Olympic Games rather than just focus on the number of medals each country won.

The Chinese athletes have done a great job in the events they usually dominate, so have their counterparts from United States. But the athletes from Great Britain were the big surprise of the Games.

We should be thankful to all the athletes for doing a great job and giving the world a great show.

Lessons learned from history

Comment on "Build bridges between two peoples" (China Daily website, Aug 16)

We are not supposed to forget history, especially the history of not-too-distant a past. China does not have a choice but to grow to be strong. Only in this way can it escape from the historical tragedy that it suffered.

The best way of development is to keep history in mind and create a new history.
