Shopper killed by runaway cart
Police have put two people under restriction after a cart they used to load beverages rolled down an elevator ramp and hit a 66-year-old woman in a supermarket in Shanghai on Friday, causing her death. The two men, in their 60s, and a female coworker were shopping at a supermarket. The group insisted on using their own cart despite warnings from supermarket staff. The men lost control of the cart, laden with 15 cases of beverages, and it hit the victim from behind.

Father and son prosecuted
Police have started an investigation and prosecution against a father and son who crashed their expensive cars into each other on a road in Ma'anshan, Anhui province, last week, for threatening public security. On Wednesday morning, a businessman identified as Yang had a domestic dispute with his son, who took off in his BMW. The father chased his son in a Mercedes-Benz. While driving on Yushan Road, the pair started to race and crashed into each other until their vehicles broke down.

Woman dies after suffering sunstroke
A woman in Changsha, Hunan province, died in hospital on Saturday after suffering sunstroke while helping her injured sister, a sanitation worker, clean the street, the Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported. The 49-year-old woman, Liu Lihua, was sent to the hospital on Friday after she fainted at work and was found to have a body temperature of 41 C. She had been helping her sister for three months without a contract with the local sanitation department.

Man gets artificial lens implants
A 22-year-old man in Fujian province had artificial lenses implanted in his eyes on Friday to treat his severe myopia, the Strait Herald reported on Sunday. His doctor at Xiamen University's Xiamen Eye Center said the man, surnamed Guo, has most severe myopia the hospital has ever treated. He said Guo was so nearsighted that doctors had to use Type-B ultrasound to calculate his exact visual acuity, which was 36 diopters. The hospital cut open the man's cornea, and implanted artificial lenses on his iris.

Giant rubber duck to visit Beijing
A giant rubber duck created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman will come to Beijing in September during Beijing Design Week 2013, Hofman said on Saturday in Beijing at a news conference about Amsterdam-a guest city of the design week. The inflatable duck, which is 10 meters high, has attracted hundreds of thousands of locals and tourists in the month it has spent on Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor, where it arrived in May.
Executive gets 13 years for rape
The 44-year-old vice-president of a State-owned enterprise, Wang Wei, was sentenced to 13 years in jail recently for raping a 24-year-old female subordinate twice, The Beijing News reported. The court of final appeal said the defendant forced the victim to have sex with him by using violence and his power, and caused the victim mental suffering. The victim called the police one month after the incident.
Landmarks safe in Transformers 4
The head of a Hollywood production company denied online rumors on Sunday that upcoming action film Transformers 4 will include the destruction of Beijing landmarks. "Pangu Plaza is an extraordinary and iconic building that will make a memorable visual in the movie, especially set against the beautiful National Stadium, National Aquatic Center and Olympic Green," said Marc Ganis, president of Jiaflix Enterprises in a statement.
