Shadow memories

Taiwanese artist Ta-Wei Huang stands by one of his works at Afterimage, a month-long generative project/exhibit hosted by Cuchifritos Gallery + Project Space and Residency Unlimited in New York on August 16. Building on a palimpsest, Huang experiments with the notion of the missing artwork - the imprint of an image once it has been removed - by painting vendors and visitors to the market and then cutting them from the picture, leaving only the frames. Found art

As part of an art exhibit called Afterimage, artist Yinhua Chu collected discarded materials from market vendors and brought them into the gallery to construct the setting and scenario of non-place, a transient site between destinations. The exhibition runs from Aug 9 through Sept 7. Provided to China Daily
