China claimed more spots than any other country in the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants awards for 2015, with 16 eateries on the list, including Shanghai's Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet at No 3.
The event was supported by the Singapore Tourism Board with a network of commercial sponsors led by mineral-water producers Acqua Panna and S. Pellegrino.
Ultraviolet hosts 10 diners per night, and each of the 20 courses on the menu is presented in a multisensory manner, with projections, music, fragrances and lighting tailored to each dish.
Topping the awards list for Asia were Gaggan in Bangkok and Narisawa in Tokyo. Two Hong Kong restaurants were also among the top 10: Amber (No 6) and 8-1/2 Otto E Mezzo Bombana (No 8).
No restaurants in Beijing or Taipei made the top 50 list. Le Mout, in Taichung, was ranked No 26 in Asia.
