Students and teachers from the Primary School attached to Chaoyang Normal College gave a symphonic concert Saturday afternoon at Peking University Hall.
It's the ninth year that the students' orchestra gave a New Year concert. They performed music with wind and brass instruments by composers including Shostakovich, Phillip Ronald Cowherd, Alan Menken and arranged pop music by Jay Chou.
As a leading primary school in Chaoyang District, Beijing, the school specializes in wind and brass orchestra training. The school invites music coaches and conductors from conservatories to give classes. Students start to learn the instruments from the second year and have training twice a week.
The school formed the marching band in 1999 and has performed in Japan and Singapore.
