Historical musical

Musical Xiang Fei, based on folklore about a Uygur princess married to Emperor Qianlong in the 18th century, is being staged in Shanghai. The play is a joint production by Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center and the culture administration of Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Offbeat allegory

Physical theater production It's a Dog's Life is an allegory about modern society with stories about dogs chasing rabbits, and hunters controlling dogs. The 90-minute show features only one-minute of dialogue. All the drama is realized through ingenious choreography and music.

Travel inspiration

An exhibition of watercolor paintings by Shanghai-based artist Wang Yichu is currently on show. Wang is a professor at Shanghai Normal University. Her work is inspired by her love of travel.
