The government still has a long way to go in regulating organ donations after issuing temporary regulations on Aug 17, said an article in Southern Metropolis Daily (excerpts below).

Some human organs for transplant in China come from executed criminals and others are from an underground black market.

A network must be established that guarantees organ transplants no longer have to inhabit this murky market.

Obstacles remain. Organs must be properly certified. Storage facilities are also important as are priority assignments. Patients who need them most must get them first.

These steps require taking on vested interests. It will not be easy. But it must be done.
