ROME -- Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon admitted on Wednesday that Francesco Totti could make a difference to any team if he maintains his current form.

Totti, 37, is now in formidable form and leading Roma to seven wins from seven Serie games this season, and there have been some speculations in the Italian Press that he could be called up to the national side set-up for the World Cup.
Buffon heaped praise on Totti saying the veteran striker is an asset.

"Totti is immortal as a player," he said. "In this form he could make a difference everywhere. He is proving to be a champion. "
Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli has confirmed that he could call up Totti to the national outfit if he keep his form up to the World Cup finals.

"We'll evaluate Totti a month before the World Cup. But a Totti like this is a player to talk about, to reflect upon, it is a fantastic Totti," he said.

Italy has qualified for the World Cup finals with two qualifiers to spare, but Buffon warned his teammates to play the remaining two matches in style.

"We'll have to find the strength to honour this qualification process. To play badly for the national team at any stage doesn't please any one," he said.

"The best thing for Italian football would be for us to win this game. We have to be a point of reference for the game in this country," he added.
