Getting there:
Departing from Beijing, a three-hour drive westward via the Badaling-Jingzhang-Zhangcheng expressways over 240 km ends in Zhangjiakou city, where the resort awaits.
Or, take a flight to the spanking new Zhangjiakou airport.
Free shuttle bus service is available once a day (at 3 pm) during weekdays and twice (at 2 pm and 6:30 pm) during weekends from Beijing International Airport.
Hotel: 3,666 yuan ($588) upward (four in a room).
Meals: Prices vary widely. Alternatively, hotel rooms are equipped with small kitchens.
Highlights:
Winter skiing - The resort has a variety of hotel-plus-ski packages and season passes. Ski equipment is available for rent.
