I was dazzled by the 13-minute multimedia show A Symphony of Lights that starts at 8 pm daily. More than 40 buildings on both sides of the harbor flash lights while lasers zap to music.

Lan Kwai Fong is walking distance from Central Ferry Pier. It's one of Hong Kong's most popular and vibrant nightlife locales, chockablock with restaurants and bars.

If you go

Flights from Beijing to Hong Kong are about three hours. Arrivals at Hong Kong's airport can rent portable Wi-Fi routers, and buy Octopus Cards for public transport and shopping. Airport Expresses and public buses run until midnight.
