Foreign travel new flavor of Spring Festival holidays

The capital city received 1.4 million visitors during the seven-day holiday, up 1.5 percent year-on-year. Tourism income rose 2.1 percent to 3.4 billion yuan.

Traditional events drew a significant number of visitors nationwide.

Beijing's Ditan Temple Fair attracted 980,000 visitors, while the Jiangsu-Taiwan lantern fair in Zhenjiang saw 435,000 tourists during the first three days of the festival.

Hot spring spots were also a popular choice.

Hot springs in Chongqing received 350,000 visitors, Fujian province's Yongtai county took in 21,000 visitors while those in Hubei province saw 31,000 visitors.

The successful bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games boosted winter tourism.

Ski resorts in Beijing received 84,000 visitors, up 8.6 percent over the previous year, while Hebei's Chongli county took in 180,000 tourists, who mostly went there to ski, up 17.2 percent on year.

Chongli's revenue this year surpassed 120 million yuan, up 17.7 percent over the previous year.

The Xuexiang and Yabuli scenic spots in the northern province of Heilongjiang received 190,000 tourists, with 147 million yuan in tourism income.

Xinjiang's winter tourism festival also drew lots of visitors.

Meanwhile, Hao had a great time in Japan, which has fundamentally changed his thinking about how to spend future Spring Festival holidays.

"I'll definitely consider visiting other countries with my family during the Spring Festival," he says.
