Hewlett-Packard aims to take back its PC market share in China with the help of its new leader, the China Business Network Daily reported.
Yi Xiaohui, who was appointed senior vice president of the Printing and Personal Systems (PPS) Group in China in June, served as Vice President of Lenovo Group for years and is said to have been brought in to drive HP's growth.
Although HP is still a global PC leader, their results in China have not been positive. Data of the fourth quarter in 2011, HP ranked No 5 in China with a share of 5.3 percent, while Lenovo, its strongest rival in the global market, topped the list by taking 32 percent of the market share. In 2010, HP was the second largest PC vendor in China.
PC marketing has always been a crucial part of HP and the move will bring new hope for the company's businesses in PPS and cloud computing, analysts say.
