Taliban attacks police compound in Kabul

KABUL - Casualties were feared as a team of Taliban suicide bombers and gunmen raided a police compound in western Afghan capital of Kabul early Monday morning, police said.
"The militants conducted a coordinated attack against an Afghan border police compound locating near the intersection of Dehmazang in western Kabul," a police official, who declined to be named, told Xinhua.
At least one suicide bombing also took place in the attack which occurred at about 6 am local time Monday, he said.
No casualty reports were immediately available, he said, adding the clash was going on at the moment and firing can still be heard in the area.
Security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures.
The attack is the latest in a string of bombings that have targeted dozens of military and security compounds across the country.
