SEOUL - South Korea's president-elect Park Geun-hye will meet with Myanmar's opposition leader and parliamentarian Aung San Suu Kyi next week, Park's aides said Monday.

The two are scheduled to meet next Tuesday and discuss Asia's role in the international community and the role of female leaders, Park's spokesman Park Sun-kyoo told reporters.

The pro-democracy icon will be on a five-day South Korea trip starting next Monday, during which she will receive the Gwangju Prize for Human Rights and attend the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang.

The Nobel Peace laureate and leader of the National League for Democracy was released from house arrest in 2010 and became a parliamentarian in the by-election in April 2012.
