ROME - A man shot dead two female clerks in the regional government of Umbria in Italy before killing himself on Wednesday, local media reported.
According to the ANSA new agency, the gunman, 43-year-old businessman Andrea Zampi, entered the regional government building shouting "you have ruined me," before killing Margherita Peccati, 61, and Daniela Crispolti, 46, with a semi-automatic weapon and turning his gun on himself.
"This is an immense tragedy - the product of a terrible climate linked to the current economic situation," Perugia mayor Vladimiro Boccali said.
PerugiaToday news website said the regional administration had turned down Zampi's request for credit that would have allowed him to raise some 130,000 euros (about $169,000).
