KABUL - The votes auditing process of the prolonged Afghan presidential runoff is over, a local television channel Tolo reported on Friday.

"The 100 percent of votes audit process was completed last night," Tolo television said in its news bulletin, without giving more details.

Since Friday is weekly off day in Afghanistan, no official was immediately available to comment.

It has merit to mention that spokesman for Afghan election commission Noor Mohammad Noor told reporters on Wednesday that 94 percent of all the ballot boxes had been recounted and audited; audit process would be completed on Thursday.

Noor also said the elections' result would be announced soon, but he did not give an exact date.

Since none of the eight presidential contenders had secured more than 50 percent of some 7 million votes cast in the April 5 presidential polls, the two frontrunners Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai went for a runoff on June 14, but the result has yet to be announced.
