Fashion and technology bonded in fashion designer Chi Zhang's latest collection "The Present & the Future" on Monday during New York Fashion Week. In a show brimming with energy, models in leather and fur-style streetwear strutted on stage in dance moves.

The young Beijing designer's collection draws its inspiration from a recent survey on color trends among China's "Post 95s" (people born after 1995), whose favorite color is "95-degree black".

Staged at the Space Shuttle Pavilion, the event featured tech-intensive and futuristic elements, representing China's young generation.

"The collection's design is based on the preferences and popular trends of the 'Post 95s,' including their favorite colors, garment patterns, styles, fabrics and items revealed by the report," Chi said.

The report also found that the most important consideration for "Post 95s" when they buy clothes is how they match. The colors that the "Post 95s" most like to pair with black are red, yellow and blue. Their favorite clothing fabrics are cotton, wool and leather, while their favorite patterns are printed patterns, doodles and letters.

The runway show was sponsored by Vip.com, China's third-largest e-commerce site, and Qzone, one of China's largest online social network platforms, owned by Tencent.

"This partnership represents an innovative crossover between e-commerce, cutting-edge technologies and fashion, enabling the connection between big data, artificial intelligence and the fashion industry," said Feifei Chen, senior director of Vip.com.
