Uygur language study: a new trend

Xinzhou Training School lunched its Uygur language program in 2010 in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. In its first year, more than 900 students attended classes to learn the Uygur language. Now more than 2,000 students are enrolled in the program, such as businessmen, doctors, government workers and teachers. The youngest student is 6 years old.

Xinzhou Training School has three people teaching Uygur. One of the school's star teachers, Chen Yuhua, developed her own method of teaching after she graduated from Xinjiang University's Uygur studies major more than 30 years ago.

Whether it's a short instructional class or a long-term one, Chen always begins with teaching students the 32 Uygur letters and makes sure they are able pronounce each one of them perfectly. Chen requires all her students to be able to sing a song and read a poem in Uygur.

There are many expressions to communicate respect in the language, especially when speaking with the elderly. Language is the carrier of culture. People who can communicate can better understand one another's culture, and that is the most important function of this language school.
