Part of THAAD battery arrives in S.Korea

SEOUL - A part of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery arrived in South Korea, which launched the process of deployment in the country's southeast region, local media reported Tuesday citing the defense ministry.

Two mobile launchers of the US missile shield and a part of other equipments were transported at Monday night to the Osan air base south of Seoul. Those were moved by the US C-17 transport airplane.

THAAD is composed of six mobile launchers, 48 interceptors, X-band radar and the fire and control unit.

The launchers and the part of equipments were moved to an unidentified base of the US Forces Korea (USFK).
