A man responsible for the death of his two-month-old daughter was sentenced to one and half years imprisonment for manslaughter by Ningbo’s Yinzhou district court in Zhejiang province.
The baby died of a head injury after her father threw her into the air but failed to catch her, according to a report by China News Network on Thursday.
The 37-year-old father, surnamed Huang, launched the baby high into the air to cheer her up after changing her diaper in December, an official from Ningbo’s district-level court told China Daily by phone.
After successfully catching his daughter twice, Huang failed to catch her the third time. She fell to the concrete floor, hitting the back of her head.
The baby was pronounced dead when Huang rushed her to the hospital. The doctor called the police immediately.
